When my aunt passed away in 2024, I was the one responsible for settling her estate. Alongside the grief came a second job I never expected: hundreds of hours untangling a lifetime of accounts, hunting for documents, and navigating a system with no guide. The process was manual, expensive, and draining — and I kept thinking: it shouldn't be this hard.
I soon learned my story wasn't unique. Every year, millions of families are thrown into the same detective work, forced to become project managers in the middle of grieving. And the professionals they hire — attorneys, CPAs, advisors — end up chasing paperwork instead of doing the work they're actually trained for.
I spent over fifteen years building strategic product partnerships at leading tech companies like Square, Uber, and Yelp. That career taught me how to run complex projects with a lot of moving pieces. Heirloom is where I point that experience now: at giving families their time back, so the hard seasons hold more room for what matters.
